New Retail Location & Desk makeover

A lot of things are happening with Shabby to Chic Designs lately, and it’s really exciting for me. First of all, I officially moved into my space at Shops on the West Ridge in Rochester, New York (booth 567) selling my furniture. I will also be selling vintage and antique home accessories, home decor, and a lavender home line I’ve been working on.

The biggest change that is happening is a complete reconstruction of the website. I am still keeping my blog section with before/afters and other posts, but I’m incorporating an online store as well.

I have some exciting lines in the works that I will write about in the near future!

Anyway – a few months ago I bought this desk off a couple that desperately wanted to get rid of it (I guess they couldn’t see its potential!)..

Here is the BEFORE:

 And here is the AFTER:

This is a piece that I really don’t want to give up. I absolutely love it. Its top was sanded down to smooth out all its old scratches and imperfections (leaving a few marks here and there to keep its character). I re-stained it using a walnut color by minwax, then sealed the top.

The frame was painted an antique white, with a soft blue for the drawers. I added new hardware since the originals were half missing.

Finally, I distressed the piece to show the original wood through the paint. I waxed it will a clear coat and softly buffed it for a slight sheen.

This desk is the first piece in the Harlow collection. I will be finishing a few more pieces in the collection. I’m really excited about this line.

This piece is available along with other furniture in Rochester, NY

Gorgeous! I love what you did with it. I would have a hard time parting with that one, too.

This desk/vanity is beautiful! I have a similar vanity in this same shape that I was just about to start working on, and I had the same idea–to restore the top to its beautiful wood, and to paint the body. Great job!!

This piece is absolutely gorgeous!! I love that the top is still wood finish and that you used the antique white along with the color. Excellent!

It keeps on amazing on how talented those furniture painters are that I encounter on the web and how amazingly better old damaged furniture looks with a lick of paint and an eye for the romance… This one again is picture perfect!!! Do come and link it up at our party
